Do you feel like you are in the fight of your life, there is something that you are standing on the Word of God and believing for, and you don’t see and end in sight to the struggle? In fact, you feel like you’ve been losing too many battles lately, and you don’t understand why? Let me encourage you. You may have lost a few battles, dear Saints, but you have already won the war! Just don’t get weary in well doing for in due season, you will reap if you faint not (Gal. 6:9). Just keep standing on the Word and throw it in the face of the devil! He has nothing on you, and he certainly has nothing on God! The devil is your defeated foe! Jesus is your victory!
Well, Lisa Marie, you might say, “That sounds great in theory, but I’m in the everyday trenches fighting the fight, and I don’t see things changing!” Well, that’s part of the problem! You can’t be moved by what you see when your sight doesn’t line up with the Word. Everything happens in the spirit realm before it happens in the seen world. If you are standing on the Word, God, the ministering angels, and Jesus are standing on your behalf (Heb. 1:14). Have confidence in that and not in what you may see in the natural that causes you to be discouraged. Don’t give up the fight before the battle is over!
So, let’s get practical. When we are in a battle, often times, I think the devil gives us two main thoughts to try to defeat us. First, he tells us that the mistakes we have made along the way are too big or too many, and because of them, we can never win the battle in which we are engaged. Saints, that is not true! Do not let the devil torment you with fear (Isa. 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”) God is bigger than your mistakes, and He is gracious and merciful, and He will never let His Word become ineffective or powerless (Isa. 55:11). Your mistakes are not more powerful than His Word! If you feel you have gotten off of His Word, just recognize your need for Him, get back in the Word and prayer, and keep believing God! He is faithful to us; His Word is true, and Jesus has already paid the price necessary to make you an overcomer (1 John 5:4-5).
Second, the devil tries to get you to question the justice of your cause. He’ll whisper in your ear things like, “If you were right, you would already have won by now; you would have already gotten your result, your desired end,” or “If God were really on your side, you wouldn’t have to be fighting this hard,” or “If you were right, more people would agree with you.” Don’t believe those lies, Saints. The devil will try to wear you down, but don’t give up; don’t give in! Keep standing! Fight the good fight (1 Tim. 6:12), and know that your victory is already secured by all that Jesus has already done. If you are believing the Word and standing for something the Word says is yours, you are fighting for a just cause. Don’t let the devil get you twisted up in your mind. The Word says you can have healing; it says you will prosper; it says you will be blessed going in and out; it says you will be blessed with all supernatural blessings; it says you are the head and not the tail; it says your household will be saved. Who’s the boss here anyway? You are! Remind the devil of that (Eph. 1:21-23; Luke 10:19). Jesus has defeated every enemy – lack, demonic influence, oppression, sickness, death, hell, and the grave – and His victory is your victory (John 16:33)! His authority is your authority over the devil and every defeating thought that he tries to plant into your mind and spirit. Don’t receive those defeating thoughts, dear ones. Don’t open the door to the devil’s paths of destruction! (Please read Psalm 37.)
You may feel like you have lost too many battles along the way and that as a result, the war is unwinnable, but that is a lie! The truth is, life is bigger than every individual battle. Get the big picture! Jesus has already won the war on our behalf! Don’t give up on Jesus! Keep standing. Keep believing. Keep fighting the good fight of faith, and your victory is secure!
God will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is stayed on [Him] (Isa. 26:3)!
If you have never made Jesus the Lord of your life and desire to, pray this: Dear God, I believe that Jesus is your Son, that He died on the cross for me and was resurrected for my redemption. I choose to make Jesus the Lord of my life. I thank you for forgiving me and for filling me with Your Holy Spirit. I thank You that I am Your child, that You are my Father, and that You have great things planned for me. Amen.
