Dear Ones,

Oftentimes when I talk to people who are struggling in some area of their lives, I hear them make this comment:  “If I don’t get my hopes up, I won’t be disappointed…”  The rest of the sentence should read: “…when I don’t get what I really want.”  What they mean is that if they don’t set their expectations on their heart’s desire, then when they don’t get what they truly want in their heart, they won’t be disappointed.  The truth of the matter is that people who think that way are already disappointed.  The Scripture says, “Hope deferred makes the heart grow sick (Prov. 13:12).”  God does not intend for us to settle for any less than our heart’s desire when we have committed our plans to Him (Prov. 16:3).  The key is just that.  Commit your plans to Him, and He will establish them for you.  He will guard over them and guide you until your heart’s desires are accomplished.  He directs the steps of His righteous children (Psalm 37:23).

God is a dreamer, and you can be too.  He dreamed up the entire human race and believed and spoke it into existence.  He dreamed about this planet, and spoke His dream, and it appeared.  He dreamed about you before you were ever born, and here you are.  God loves dreams!  He spoke to the prophets in dreams, and when they believed in those dreams and acted upon them, beautiful, powerful things happened.  God wants us to have dreams to believe in so we can see them come true.  God creates wonderful results through the dreams He gives us.  God says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1).”  You see God has given you faith as a tool to hope and to see your hopes become reality.  God loves it when we hope for things beyond what we think we can accomplish in our own strength.  He wants to be our hope, the very hope that makes His dreams come true here on the earth, the here and now.  Nothing is impossible with Him (Mt. 19:26; Mk. 10:27; Luke 18:27).

So (not to be harsh), if you are a person who tends to say, “If I don’t get my hopes up, I won’t be disappointed,” or “If I don’t try, I can’t fail.” my advice to you is, “Stop being a coward.”  If you don’t try, you have already failed.  God created you for more.  You’re probably one of those people that has wonderful, creative ideas.  You’re probably a person to whom God has given the ability to see things in a way that is different from others.  You probably truly have a great imagination, and God wants to use you in a special way to bring forth special dreams and ideas, but the devil has your number and plants seeds of doubt in your mind.  Well, you don’t have to agree with those thoughts.  What good is it going to do to agree with those negative thoughts anyway?  It doesn’t do any good.  God’s already explained that to you when He said, “Hope deferred makes the heart grow sick.”  The rest of that verse says, “…but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”  How can the desire come, if you don’t hope for it first?  Don’t you want that tree of life growing in your life?  Refusing to hope or dream for fear that something won’t turn out the way you want or thought leads to oppression and depression.  Negativity is the opposite of creativity.  Don’t let your fears steal your hope!  Get your thoughts in line with God’s thoughts, and create what He designed you to do on this earth!  Bring forth that tree of life!  When the Scripture says God has good plans for you, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jer. 29:11),” God is promising you that He will come along side you to establish the plans He has for you.  All you have to do is say, “O.k. God, I can do this with you. I commit my way to you.  I know when my way is committed to you, Your plans become the plans of my heart.  You give me revelation ideas to accomplish what you want me to accomplish.  I become an avenue for Your desires to be fulfilled in this earth.  You establish my plans, and with you, I can do all things."  Now, doesn’t that feel better when you think that way, when you think in line with hope?  Can’t you just feel the difference in your inner man?  Can’t you just feel your spirit, the Spirit of God within you, soaring?  If you’re being honest with yourself, you will feel a new freedom you have never felt before; you will feel a new joy, God’s joy, welling up within you.  That joy will become a strength to you.  When you think in line with hope, God will do mighty things through you!

So, let’s get our thoughts in line with hope!  Let’s let our faith undergird our hope and become the evidence of things not yet seen in this earth.  Dream big like God, and mighty things will begin happening in your life and the lives of those God has established for you to impact.

Be filled with hope,

Lisa Marie

If you have never made Jesus the Lord of your life and desire to, pray this:  Dear God, I believe that Jesus is your Son, that He died on the cross for me and was resurrected for my redemption.  I choose to make Jesus the Lord of my life.  I thank you for forgiving me and for filling me with Your Holy Spirit.  I thank You that I am Your child, that You are my Father, and that You have great things planned for me.  Amen.
