River City Ladies,

It is my prayer that this blog is an encouragement to you and that it will help you to recognize that you are pleasing to God and that He adores you.  He is your number one fan!

O.K., so let’s get started.  You’re facing the day ahead and you’re thinking about all of the challenges you have to meet today.  Like a good, strong, spirit-filled individual, you are rehearsing God’s truth that…”I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength (Phil 4:13),” and “Greater is He Who is in [me] than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4),” and “We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37).”  For some reason, though, you still feel overwhelmed.  Maybe you have little ones at home going through the “terrific twos” or some other equally challenging phase, or perhaps you have the care of needful parents, or challenges at work, difficult bosses or co-workers or customers, or you are a student with more homework and tests to do than you think possible.  Just maybe you are struggling financially.  So, you recite the Word and recite the Word, and then you hear yourself saying to God….”Come on, God.  Let’s get real.  Why am I still feeling overwhelmed?  When will this get better?”

First of all, I want you to know God understands.  You can get real with Him.  He is not offended or put off by your questions.  It is not a lack of faith to be transparent with God.  He sent Jesus to be acquainted with our sufferings and griefs (Isaiah 53:3-4), and your searching is no surprise to Him. There is nothing you are going to go through today that He is not ready for or surprised about, nothing that He will not see you through.  Even when you may not feel like it, know He is carrying you through.  He is your gap-stander and the lifter of our heads (Psalm 3:3).  He is your overcomer (John 16:33).  He is for you.  You are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8; Deut. 32:10).  He is rooting for you.  You are precious to Him, and He will not leave you comfortless (John 14:8).  In our weakness, His power and strength are made perfect (2 Cor. 12:9).

He simply says to you, I am real.  You can depend on Me.  I sent Jesus to provide everything you will need today, to redeem every situation in your life, to cover your mistakes, to encourage your doubts, to pour out My grace and mercy and favor into your life – every day.  Just turn it over to Me.  Take it to Jesus.  The Lord tells us to put our requests before Him, and He will come to our rescue (Psalm 5:3; Psalm 18:3, 6, 16).  Commit your way to Him, and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4-5).  Remember, that the very same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead resides in you, the born again believer (Romans 8:11).  He has made us to be raised up together and to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6).  All power available to Jesus is available to you.  Speak to Him; He is listening with a tender heart, and He will show you the way to go. Though trouble may come in the world, He will show you the way to walk above the pain, above the turmoil or challenges.  He will direct your paths (Prov. 3:6) and be a voice behind you speaking into your heart telling you which way to go (Isa. 30:21).  Rest in Him and be refreshed.  His love for you is greater than any challenge you may face today.

Be encouraged in Christ,

Lisa Marie
