Stand your ground! Don’t let the devil or your skeptical acquaintances talk you out of the promises of God. If you are a Christian, it is your calling to study and believe the Bible and stand on its truths…even if you can’t always wrap your mind around the reality of what you read.
Let’s look at an example. Suppose you are going on a trip to a place you have never been. Of course, you would get directions. Let’s say you look them up on Google Maps or MapQuest. You print them out and get in your car with your friends or family the morning you are leaving on the trip. Would you follow the directions and believe they were true and accurate, or would you toss them out the window and say, “I can figure this out on my own. I don’t need any help.”? Well, of course, any reasonable person, would follow the map, which would take him or her to the chosen destination.
Well, as a Christian, your Bible is your road map. You have to read it and believe it is true to get to your chosen destination. What are you believing for? What are your dreams? What is your vision? What issue are you facing that need to be resolved? Find the Word and stand your ground. God’s Word is Yeah and Amen (2 Cor. 1:20). It is infallible, regardless of the fact that it sometimes flies in the face of common sense and carnal reasoning. It is not always something you can wrap your mind around in a rational, logical sense. We call miracles “miracles” because they defy our understanding, but they do happen. So, if you are in debt up to your ears, but the Word says God, “shall provide all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19),” or not to worry about what to eat or wear because God feeds the ravens who need not sow or reap and arrays the lilies of the field in all their splendor (Luke 12:24, 27), or “I shall not want (Psalm 23),” believe it! Stand on it! Accept it as done, as true, as a promise of God, and no matter what things look like, don’t give up! Don’t give in! Don’t agree with the doubters of the day! You either believe the Bible, or you don’t. You either follow the directions on the road map, or you don’t, but the best way to get to your chosen destination is already set out for you in the Scripture.
Do you need healing? Find the Scripture (1 Pet. 2:24). Do you need deliverance from oppression (Acts 10:38), discouragement (Dt. 20:1; Josh. 1:9), confusion (1 Cor. 2:16)? Find the Scripture. Do you need help with your finances (Phil. 4:19; Mal. 3:10)? Find the Scripture. Do you need forgiveness (Psalm 103:12)? Find the Scripture. Do you need peace (Jn. 14:27; Isa. 26:3) or patience (Jas. 1:2-4; Col. 1:11; Ro. 5:3)? Find the Scripture. When the Scripture directs you to do something, then do it. If it tells you who you are in Christ or that you are an overcomer (1 Jn. 2:13-14; 1 Jn. 4:4; 1 Jn. 5:4), then believe it. Stop arguing with God through unbelief! Don’t act like a two-year old who is certain he or she is right and that Mommy and Daddy are wrong. Just take God at His Word and believe in faith that God will do what He says He has done in His Word. Don’t be moved by your emotions or how you feel. God has already worked on your behalf and is securing a good outcome for you according to His Word. His promises became true for you the moment you accepted Jesus. God is your best friend, and Jesus is your advocate! They have your best interest and your good success in mind. God has plans to prosper you and give you a hope-filled future (Jer. 29:11). Take Him up on it, and stand on His Word, no matter what life throws your way.
Have people disappointed you? God won’t. Have life situations disappointed you? God won’t. You can take Him at His Word! Take your authority, which Christ has won for you. Stand! Stand! Stand! (Eph. 6:10-18). Defy the odds…by believing God’s word. Defy the devil…by knowing that Christ died for you for a reason – for many reasons! He died to make you a winner, an overcomer, to give you the chance to be a believer in all the promises of God! Say “Yeah and Amen” to victory through Jesus! Believe the Truth presented in the Word, and not the contrary circumstances of this world! You are a king, made so by Christ, with authority over the schemes and lies and tricks of the devil.
Believe and rejoice!
