I run into people all of the time who are frustrated with their current situation or place in life, and one of the things I find most commonly is that they are looking around at what other people do and have. That’s called covetousness, envy, jealousy. The sooner we learn to look up instead of sideways, the more we keep our eyes focused on Christ, what He did for us, the more we look up to God and quit looking at the world, the happier, more focused, and more fulfilled we will be.
You see, God has a special purpose and special plans and goals and opportunities for each one of us specifically (Jer. 29:11, read the NIV), and the more you are focused on what others are doing and getting, the more likely it is that you will miss the perfect place of happiness and fulfillment that God has designed specifically for you.
Dear ones, God knows you intimately and loves you uniquely. He has prepared a wonderful path just for you, a path that will speak to your heart, that will bring joy overflowing, provision beyond your wildest dreams, satisfaction, peace, and strength to you and those around you. So, stop looking laterally, and look up!!! Seek God and not the things of this world, not the plans designed for others, and you will find contentment beyond anything you could imagine! You are not designed to walk someone else’s path. Your road to victory is unique to you, especially given to you by God. So, talk to Him; don’t look around and be driven by what you THINK others have, or do, or want. Take your wants and dreams and visions to God. Focus on Him, and you will see grand and glorious things take place in your life. Present your requests to Him, delight in Him, dedicate your plans to Him, and He will give you the desires of your heart (Ps. 37:4). Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all of these things will be added unto you (Mt. 6:33). When you seek God first, He reveals His best to you!
The world will never satisfy! When you look around at others, you are being driven by your flesh rather than your spirit. God talks to you in your spirit. When you focus on Him, rather than the world, your spirit is open to receive His wisdom, His way, His direction, His best for YOU. God desires to bless you and give you the desires of YOUR heart, not those of someone else’s heart.
Keep your eyes on Him, and great days are ahead for you!
If you have never made Jesus the Lord of your life and desire to, pray this: Dear God, I believe that Jesus is your Son, that He died on the cross for me and was resurrected for my redemption. I choose to make Jesus the Lord of my life. I thank you for forgiving me and for filling me with Your Holy Spirit. I thank You that I am Your child, that You are my Father, and that You have great things planned for me.
